Above and below the water appear to almost be from different worlds. The textures in this photograph are very interesting and they contrast with each other, the sky looks fluffy and soft even though its gloomy and dark, and at the bottom of the sea it looks rough and pebbly. I think because the photo is black and white it emphasizes this. It's as if there is a storm going on above land and underneath its calm and peaceful. The mood of the photograph is moody and grumpy but also slightly relaxing as you look at the girl. As it looks as if she is kind of breathing and relaxing underwater. In this photo I think she is trying to stick with her theme of her photographs being surreal. She takes the photos at her own underwater camera housing. This photo was taken by Jenna Martin, using underwater photography. It could have the object and the background behind be perfectly normal and then in the refection of the object something odd, weird or out of place is happening. I could use metallic/reflective objects to show reflection a for example bubbles and metal pans.I could use mirrors in a fantasy context to imply movement between two different worlds or environments.I could also use mirrors to hide parts of people like the some of the photos in the mood board. I could Photoshop different parts of what they see in the mirror to emphasize a distorted reflection or what they see as bad or good. I could use mirrors for reflection, but develop on from that, to show how people see themselves and their "reflection" of themselves. How they feel about themselves in the mirror is reflected in their image and how they act.I could be the opposite of what they want to see or the ideal thing they want to see. I could also incorporate different emotions, for example crying. I could take a picture of someones eyes and what they are seeing in the pupil of the eye. I could do this with puddles, lakes, rivers, ponds and waterfalls. It could reflect different landscapes or people or animals or city scapes. I could use water to create a distorted image of whatever is being reflected. I may use water for my reflection project.I want to show a different side to reflection not just the basic and stereotypical thought towards reflection, e.g water reflections and mirrors. Reflection can be interepreted in lots of different ways, for example reflection on water/shiny objects or a reflection could be how people see things/themselves or different angles and different perspectives reflecting with in each other. You can even use a mobile phone.I have chosen to investigate reflection, I think that reflection gives a wide range of opportunity and gives a wide range of techniques and ideas to work and experiment with. You don’t need to spend a lot of money on professional equipment to photograph reflections, as they can be photographed with any mid-level camera and lens. For surreal reflections look at the ground to notice objects reflected in puddles of water. For architectural reflections look above, on building surfaces. For natural reflections, look in front of you at rivers. An example is a colorful building reflected on water, showing wavy lines and colors.Īs a photographer whose goal is to develop a personal style, you must train your eye to notice reflections. These show colors and lines without revealing what the reflected subject is. An example is the Eiffel tower reflected in a puddle of water on a rainy day.Ībstract reflections. These are the hardest to notice since they require an artistic eye. An example is an old building reflected on a modern glass building in front of it. An example is a cityscape reflected on a river or a group of birds reflected on a pond.Īrchitectural reflections. These occur in nature such as waterscapes. They double the elements and colors, they are more dramatic, and they provide a balanced composition. Reflection photos have a whole lot more going on in the frame than other types of photos. This article helps you discover the types of reflections, their features, how to notice them, and a common mistake photographers make. “Tinted Tomb” captured by DailyTravelPhotos
